Build an SEO Stack Inside Claude: Data, Audits, Research and Writing

An SEO stack inside Claude has four layers: real search data from Google Search Console, keyword demand from a keyword-tool connector, technical audits in Claude Code, and writing that answers questions directly. Connect each layer once, then run a 60-minute weekly routine. Keep a paid tool only for backlinks and long-term rank tracking.

The four layers

Most SEO work falls into four jobs: knowing what is happening, knowing what people want, finding what is broken, and publishing pages that deserve to rank and be cited. Each job maps to one connection in Claude.

  1. Data: Google Search Console. Your real clicks, queries, index coverage and sitemaps. See Connect Google Search Console to Claude.
  2. Demand: a keyword connector. Search volume, questions and trends. See Free keyword research inside Claude.
  3. Diagnosis: Claude Code with an SEO plugin. Technical, content, schema and AI-readiness audits. See Run an SEO audit with Claude Code.
  4. Production: writing that answers questions. Briefs, direct answers, FAQs and an editing pass that removes vague, padded phrasing.

Set up in the right order

Connect Search Console first. Without it, every other layer works from guesses. Then add keyword data, then the audit plugin. Writing needs no connection, but it needs the other three to decide what to write and what to fix first.

A 60-minute weekly routine

  1. 10 minutes, coverage: ask Claude which pages are not indexed and whether the sitemap was read recently. Fix anything blocking indexing before anything else.
  2. 15 minutes, movement: compare the last 7 days with the previous 7. Note pages that dropped and queries that appeared for the first time.
  3. 15 minutes, opportunity: list queries in positions 8-20 with real impressions. Pick two pages to improve this week.
  4. 15 minutes, improve: for each of the two pages, add a direct answer to its main query, fill the gaps the query list reveals, and tighten the title.
  5. 5 minutes, log: keep a running note of what changed and when, so next week's numbers can be read against it.

Writing for search and AI answers

Pages that get cited by AI answer engines tend to share a shape. Each section opens with a short, self-contained answer, uses the reader's own question as the heading, and backs claims with specifics such as numbers, steps, dates and named sources. Clear authorship, a visible update date and honest limitations help readers and machines trust the page.

  • Start the page with a 40-60 word answer to its main question.
  • Use question-style H2s drawn from your keyword and Search Console data.
  • Prefer numbered steps and tables for anything procedural or comparative.
  • Add an FAQ for the follow-up questions people actually search.
  • State who wrote the page and when it was last checked.

What Claude does not replace

Be honest about the gaps. Claude has no backlink index of its own and no years of stored ranking history. If links and competitor tracking matter to your strategy, keep one paid data source, such as Ahrefs, Semrush or DataForSEO, and connect it to Claude through MCP where the vendor supports it. Use the free stack for everything else.

Start smaller than you think: You do not need every layer on day one. Search Console plus a weekly routine already beats most sites that buy tools and never open them.

Copy-paste prompts

Weekly SEO review

Run my weekly SEO review for sc-domain:example.com: (1) pages not indexed and sitemap status, (2) last 7 days vs previous 7 days by page, (3) queries in positions 8-20 with 50+ impressions. End with the two pages I should improve this week and why.

Refresh one page

For [URL], list the queries it already ranks for. Then propose: a 50-word direct answer for the top query, missing sections the queries suggest, a new title under 60 characters and 4 FAQs. Keep my facts and tone.

Editing pass

Edit this draft for clarity. Remove filler phrases, vague claims and repeated points. Keep every fact, number and example. Show the edited version, then a short list of what you changed: [paste draft].

Troubleshooting

  • Too many tools, no routine Set a fixed weekly slot and use the routine above. Consistency beats tool count.
  • Chasing big keywords Start with queries you already appear for in positions 8-20. They move fastest.
  • Publishing AI drafts unedited Add your own examples, numbers and judgement to every page. Generic text rarely ranks or gets cited.

FAQ

Can I do SEO entirely inside Claude?

Most day-to-day SEO, yes: reading Search Console data, keyword research, audits, briefs and edits. You still publish on your own site, and backlink research needs a paid data provider.

Which Claude plan do I need?

Connectors work in claude.ai and Claude Desktop; check your plan's connector limits. Claude Code, used for audits and code fixes, needs a paid plan (Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise) or API access.

What is AEO and how is it different from SEO?

Answer Engine Optimization means making pages easy for AI assistants and answer features to quote. It builds on SEO: the page must be indexed and useful first, then structured so a short passage answers the question on its own.

How long before I see results?

Indexing and title fixes can show in Search Console within days to a few weeks. Content improvements usually take several weeks to be re-crawled and re-ranked.
