Meta Ads with Claude
- By Praveen Jha · Updated 2026-10-23 · 9 min read · Paid ads & marketing
From competitor research to a ready-to-review Meta ad, without opening Ads Manager. One workflow, run entirely inside Claude.
Meta Ads MCP Canva MCP Avoid AI Writing Skill
- Research: Search the live Meta Ad Library for what competitors are running.
- Copy: Generate 3-5 ad variants from the research that is working.
- Creative: Build the ad designs in Canva and pick your favourites.
- Publish - Paused: Claude builds the campaign in Meta Ads, paused for your review.
Who this is for: Developers, marketers and business owners who want to brief, build and review a Meta campaign from a single Claude chat.
Set up once: Connect the Meta Ads MCP and Canva MCP and install the skill in Steps 1, 3 and 5. After that, repeat only Steps 2, 4, 6 and 7 for every new campaign.
Safety promise: Everything Claude creates in Meta Ads is created paused. Nothing spends automatically.
What you will do in this guide
- Install the Meta Ads MCP - mcp.facebook.com/ads
- Run Prompt 1 for market and competitor research
- Install the Avoid AI Writing skill
- Run Prompt 2 to generate ad copy from that research
- Install the Canva MCP, build creatives, and push the campaign to Meta Ads - paused
Keep Ads Manager open in another tab for the final review and activation. This guide does not replace that check - it gets you to a review-ready campaign faster.
How it works
Claude does not replace Meta Ads or Canva. It connects to both through connectors (MCPs - Model Context Protocol servers), reads live data, drafts the work, and creates the campaign structure for you to approve.
| Piece | What it does in this workflow |
|---|---|
| Claude | The chat where you run every step - research, copy, creative brief and campaign build. |
| Meta Ads MCP | Connects Claude to the Meta Ad Library for research and to your ad account for building the campaign, ad set, creative and ad. |
| Avoid AI Writing skill | Cleans Prompt 2 output so the copy does not read like generic AI writing. Prompt 2 uses it automatically once installed. |
| Canva MCP | Lets Claude generate ad creatives in Canva as editable designs you can finalise yourself. |
Before you start - checklist
- [ ] A Claude account where you can add connectors and skills
- [ ] A Meta ad account and a Facebook Page you want to advertise from
- [ ] Meta login details for the ad account(s) you want to link
- A Canva account for the creative step
- Your offer in one line: what you sell, price or price range, and location if relevant
- [ ] Your landing destination: website URL, phone number, or WhatsApp (see the WhatsApp warning on page 7)
- [ ] Any mandatory wording: disclaimers, registration numbers, or brand terms that must appear
Time-saving rule: Set up once, then repeat Steps 2, 4, 6 and 7 for every new campaign. Do not reinstall the connectors or the skill each time.
What Claude returns at each stage
- Research: Raw Ad Library results, patterns, 3-5 fresh angles, and red flags to avoid.
- Copy: 3-5 variants, each with message, headline, description and call to action (CTA).
- Creative: Canva design options for each variant, ready for you to pick and edit.
- Campaign: Campaign → ad set → creative → ad, built in your account and left paused.
Steps 1-3: Connect and research
1 Install the Meta Ads MCP
In Claude, click "+" next to the chat box (or type "/" ) and choose "Add connectors", or go to Settings → Connectors → "+".
Select "Add custom connector" and paste the server URL:

mcp.facebook.com/adsClick Add, then Connect, and complete the Meta login to link your ad account(s).
2 Run Prompt 1: Market and competitor research
Fill in the blanks in Prompt 1 on page 4 - keywords, country, your offer, and what you want to learn - and send it to Claude.
Claude searches the live Meta Ad Library and returns raw results, patterns, fresh angles and red flags. Keep this output in the same chat: Prompt 2 will build directly on it.
3 Install the Avoid AI Writing skill
Get the skill from GitHub:

https://github.com/conorbronsdon/avoid-ai-writingIn Claude, make sure Code Execution is on: Settings → Capabilities. Then go to Customize → Skills. Click Add / Upload skill and upload the skill. Toggle it on.
Prompt 2 uses it automatically - you do not need to invoke it separately if you use the wording in Prompt 2.
Developer note: If the connector does not appear after adding it, start a new Claude chat and check Settings → Connectors again. Confirm you are logged into the correct Meta account before linking - the MCP links the accounts available to that login.
Prompt 1: Competitor research
Use after connecting the Meta Ads MCP. Fill in the blanks for your business. Copy the prompt exactly and replace only the bracketed fields.
Copy-ready text
Search the Meta Ads Library for me.
Search terms: [KEYWORD OR PHRASE - leave blank if
searching by page/country only]
Page name or ID: [ADVERTISER PAGE NAME OR PAGE ID -
leave blank if not searching a specific page]
Countries: [ISO-2 CODES, e.g. US, GB, DE -
leave blank for all]
Ad status: [ACTIVE / INACTIVE / ALL]
Ad category: [ALL / POLITICAL_AND_ISSUE_ADS /
HOUSING_ADS / EMPLOYMENT_ADS / CREDIT_ADS]
Number of results: [1-50, default 25]
What I'm trying to learn: [e.g. "hook angles
competitors are using," "how long their ads have
been running," "creative formats in this niche"]
My angle/offer: [OPTIONAL - briefly describe your
own product, price point, or positioning, so
suggestions are relevant to YOU and not generic]
After searching, give me:
1. Raw results (page name, hook/headline,
snapshot link)
2. Patterns - repeated hooks, offers, formats,
or targeting signals across results
3. Suggestions - 3-5 specific angles or hooks I
could adapt for my own ads, based on what's
working here (flag which ones are
oversaturated vs. still fresh)
4. Anything to avoid - weak/spammy patterns,
false-positive results, or red flags in
this nicheHow to fill it well
Be specific in "What I'm trying to learn" - one clear question returns a sharper analysis than "show me everything".
Always fill "My angle/offer" if you can. Without it, the suggestions come back generic.
- Start with 25 results. Go wider only if the niche is thin.
Step 4 + Prompt 2: Generate ad copy
4 Run Prompt 2: Generate ad copy from that research
Fill in your offer, which research to base it on, and your landing destination (WhatsApp number, website or phone). Claude drafts 3-5 variants - message, headline, description, CTA - cleaned through the Avoid AI Writing skill.
Use after Prompt 1. Fill in the blanks for your business.

Generate ad copies for me.
My offer: [what you're selling - product, price
range, location/project name, key details]
Base this on: [which research to use - e.g.
"the real estate Mumbai search" - or paste
new context]
Number of variants: [e.g. 3-5, default 3]
Landing destination: [WhatsApp number /
website URL / phone number - optional]
Must include: [mandatory disclaimers, RERA
number, brand name, etc. - optional]
Must avoid: [words, claims, or tones to
avoid - optional]
Tone: [e.g. premium, budget-friendly, urgent -
optional, leave blank and match what's working
in the research]
CTA button: [optional - leave blank and pick
based on landing destination + what's
converting in this niche]
After drafting, run the output through the
/avoid-ai-writing skill to strip generic
AI-writing patterns before giving me the final
copy. Don't show your reasoning - just hand me
clean copy.Approve the copy before moving to creative. Changing copy after the Canva designs are built means rebuilding the designs.
Steps 5-7: Creative and launch (paused)
5 Install the Canva MCP
Use the same connector flow as Step 1: search for Canva, click Connect and authorize your Canva account.
6. Ask Claude to build the creatives in Canva
Once you have approved the copy, tell Claude to generate the ad creatives in Canva. It designs options for each variant, and you pick your favourites to finalize as editable Canva designs.
Open the chosen design in Canva and check it yourself: spelling, price, logo, and image crop. Claude's design is a starting point you own and edit.
7 Ask Claude to push it to your Meta Ads account
Claude pulls your connected ad accounts and Pages, confirms goal, budget, targeting and destination with you, exports the Canva design, uploads it, and builds:
Campaign → Ad Set → Creative → Ad
Everything is created paused for your review before anything goes live.
Repeat loop: For the next campaign, go back to Step 2 (Prompt 1), then Step 4 (Prompt 2), Step 6 (Canva creative) and Step 7 (push to Meta Ads). Steps 1, 3 and 5 are one-time setup.
Suggested instruction for Step 7
Say it plainly in chat, for example: _"Use the approved copy and the Canva creative I selected. Build this in my Meta Ads account, confirm the goal, budget, targeting and destination with me first, and leave everything paused."_ Do not skip the confirmation - that is where budget or destination mistakes are caught.
Warnings and review checklist
Three warnings
1. WhatsApp ads: Click-to-WhatsApp ads need a WhatsApp Business Account linked to the Facebook Page. A personal WhatsApp number will get the ad set rejected. Set this up in Meta Business Suite first.
2. Nothing spends automatically: Everything Claude creates in Meta Ads is paused. Nothing spends automatically. Review and activate it in Ads Manager when you are ready.
3. Use real photos: Real product or property photos beat AI or stock images for conversions. Upload real photos to Canva, or share them directly with Claude.
Pre-launch review - check in Ads Manager before activating
- [ ] Correct ad account and Facebook Page selected
- [ ] Campaign goal matches what Claude confirmed with you
- [ ] Daily / lifetime budget is exactly what you approved
- [ ] Targeting, locations and placements are correct for this offer
- [ ] Landing destination opens correctly (website, phone, or WhatsApp Business)
- [ ] Copy has no unapproved claims; mandatory disclaimers are present
- [ ] Creative is the final Canva version, with correct spelling and crop
- [ ] Campaign, ad set and ad are still paused until you activate them
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Check first |
|---|---|
| Meta connector will not connect | Re-check the server URL is exactly mcp.facebook.com/ads and that your Meta login has access to the ad account. |
| Skill does not run in Prompt 2 | Confirm Code Execution is on (Settings → Capabilities) and the Avoid AI Writing skill is toggled on in Customize → Skills. |
| WhatsApp ad set rejected | Link a WhatsApp Business Account to the Page in Meta Business Suite - a personal number is not accepted. |
| Copy sounds generic | Fill "My angle/offer" in Prompt 1 and "Must avoid" / "Tone" in Prompt 2, then re-run Prompt 2. |
