MARKETING • DAY 1 SETUP

Set Up Marketing in Claude on Day 1 One project, your voice and your files - so every draft sounds like you from the start.

A one-time setup so Claude remembers your brand voice and materials for every marketing task. No repeating yourself in every new chat.

What you will have at the end: A Marketing project in Claude containing your two voice files - About Me and Voice - plus your marketing materials, ready for campaigns, newsletters, blog posts and social content.

Set it up once, stop repeating yourself

Without a setup, every new Claude chat starts from zero. You re-explain who you are, paste the same examples, and correct the same tone - again and again.

This guide fixes that with a single Marketing project. Claude keeps your voice, your writing samples and your marketing files inside that project, so you start each task from your own starting point, not a blank one.

How the pieces fit together

PieceWhat it does
Marketing projectThe home for all marketing work. Every content request happens here.
Voice Builder skillAsks you questions and studies past content to capture how you write.
About Me + Voice filesThe two files the skill creates. Stored in the project, they carry your voice into every chat in that project.
Marketing materialsYour folder or Google Drive, connected so Claude can work from your real materials.

Result: Claude remembers your voice, your writing samples and your marketing files inside this project. The first draft already sounds like you.

Before you start

  • A Claude account where you can use Projects, Customize → Skills and Customize → Connectors
  • A few past posts or pieces of content you are happy with - the Voice Builder skill will ask for them as reference

Your marketing folder ready, or a Google Drive account if you prefer to connect Drive

2. The 6-step setup - steps 1 to 3

Work through the steps in order. Steps 1-3 create the project and capture your voice.

1. Create a Marketing project

Go to Projects → New Project, name it Marketing and create it.

Use this exact, simple name. One project for all marketing keeps your voice and files in one place instead of scattered across chats.

2. Install the Voice Builder skill

Get the Voice Builder skill from GitHub and upload it in Customize → Skills.

3. Run the skill inside that project

Start a chat inside the Marketing project and run the Voice Builder skill there.

Claude asks a few questions and asks for past posts or content as reference. Give it your best, most typical writing - the posts that sound most like you on a good day, not one-off pieces written for someone else.

Key detail: Run the skill inside the Marketing project (Step 3), not in a general chat. The voice it captures is for this project, and the files it creates in the next step belong here.

Choosing good reference content

Posts or articles you wrote yourself and were happy with

  • A mix of lengths - a short post and a longer piece shows range
  • Content in the tone you want more of, not a tone you want to leave behind

3. The 6-step setup - steps 4 to 6

Steps 4-6 turn the voice capture into permanent project knowledge and connect your materials.

4. Let Claude create your voice files

The skill produces two files, capturing how you write:

About Me - who you are and what you do

Voice - how you write

Read both files before you save them. If a line does not sound like you, ask Claude in that same chat to adjust it - this is the easiest moment to fix it.

5. Add them to the project

Download both files and upload them to the same project's knowledge.

Both files, same project. If they stay only in the chat where they were created, new chats in the project will not carry them.

6. Connect your marketing materials

Add your marketing folder to the project, _or_ connect Google Drive:

Copy-ready text

Customize → Connectors → search “Google Drive”

Result: Claude remembers your voice, your writing samples and your marketing files inside this project.

4. Do every content request inside the project

The rule is simple: every content request happens in the Marketing project, so the first draft already sounds like you.

Starting a marketing task in a general chat bypasses your voice files and materials. Starting it in the project puts them behind every answer.

What to use it for

Ad campaigns

Plan and write a full ad campaign: hooks, copy and variations.

Newsletters

Draft this week's newsletter in your voice, from your materials.

Blog posts

Write a blog post from a rough idea - you supply the idea, the project supplies the voice.

Repurposing

Turn one post into LinkedIn posts, captions and carousels.

Starter prompts to try inside the project

Adapt these to your task. They work because the project already holds your voice and files.

Plan a full ad campaign for [offer]. Give me hooks, primary copy and 3 variations for each angle.

Draft this week's newsletter from [topic / notes]. Use my usual structure and voice.

Turn this post into a LinkedIn post, short captions and a carousel outline: [paste post]

5. Day-1 checklist

Setup is complete when every box below is ticked. If a draft does not sound like you, work down this list first - the cause is usually a missing step, not the prompt.

  • [ ] Marketing project created (Projects → New Project, named “Marketing”)
  • [ ] Voice Builder skill uploaded in Customize → Skills
  • [ ] Skill run in a chat inside the Marketing project
  • [ ] Reference posts / content provided when Claude asked
  • [ ] About Me file created and read through
  • [ ] Voice file created and read through
  • [ ] Both files downloaded and uploaded to the project's knowledge
  • [ ] Marketing folder added, or Google Drive connected via Customize → Connectors
  • [ ] First test task run inside the project - campaign, newsletter, blog post or repurposing

If the first draft still sounds generic
